Since I am working on a campaign about the upcoming 2022 Earth Day for my client DHL, environmental health under the COVID-19 Pandemics attract my attention. The 2022 Earth Day will be at April, 22 with special theme called “Invest Our Planet.”
The word “Our” emphasizes the shared value and belief of preserving environment as human beings in the world. Individuals.
I am currently working as an account intern for a PR and Marketing agency called WestOeast that specializes in promoting western brands extension toward the Chinese market to improve cross-cultural communication. DHL, for example, is one of the clients that I am working with.
Since I just finished an advertising campaign about the theme of the Earth Day for DHL, it really connects to what we learned about visualization of climate change in this changing world. I chose to analyze the screening of 12 Artists On Climate Change. After looking through 12 artists’ artwork in the article, I found they respectively have borderless and innovative ideas to present their perspectives from these artworks in terms of software, multimedia, paintings, photographs and graphic design, etc. For example, the first artist’s Unmoored app really impresses me because he brings the element of augmented reality into the artwork and incorporates it into the human conditions lived on the planet. People will feel like these floating boats and enlarged plankton really run into their lives through the app’s camera. But in the actual world, boats can not be afloat in the sky and. This deviation symbolizes this exaggerated visualization may become true and indicates the chaos that climate change may engender, which is visually associated with people‘s tension and inauspicious imagination. Therefore, these artists utilize visual metaphors to emphasize profound connotations of caring about the Earth's climate.
